Hearts for Hope Luncheon 2013
The 14th Annual
Hearts for Hope Luncheon to benefit House of Hope
was held Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the
stunning
Sailfish Point Country Club.
The event netted $45,600 for the agency, which
provides food, clothing, furniture, financial
assistance and life-changing case management
services to Martin County residents in need.
The event featured an
inspiring guest speakerconnected to the
mission of House of Hope: empowering people to
overcome hunger and poverty.
About the book: "Excuse me lady, do you have
any spare change? I am hungry.” This simple
question marked the beginning of an
extraordinary, unlikely friendship that
ultimately transformed two lives. Laura
Schroff’s bestselling book, "An Invisible
Thread," is based on her own true story and
narrates the unexpected connection between a
busy ad executive and a hungry little boy,
Maurice Mazyck. The result is a complex and
moving story of how two lives were meant to
converge on a Manhattan street corner one
fateful day.
Also featured during Hearts for Hope:
Prize-winning cupcakes from culinary
students at The Pine School.
Distinctive vendors featuring unique
gifts and pampering packages.
An extraordinary collection of accessories
and decorative items from House of Hope.

Callahan and accompanist Jim van Voorheis.
All these elements -- and more -- came together for a
spectacular event, attended by about 270 guests,
to raise funds for programs that provide food,
clothing, case management and financial assistance to
Martin County’s struggling families and senior
citizens.
