Press releases

Office comes to House of Hope
food pantry rescue

PRESS RELEASE DATE: DECEMBER 6, 2011

Scott Sade, a financial advisor at the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney office in Stuart, stopped by House of Hope to drop off a donation of food and toys and was alarmed to see so many bare food pantry shelves.

It would be a couple of weeks yet before Thanksgiving food drives would fill up the pantry, so Sade went back to his office and inspired his officemates to make emergency donations so that House of Hope could fill up in preparation for the holiday season.

The office quickly raised $900 and delivered it to House of Hope. The agency immediately used the funds to order food from Treasure Coast Food Bank, purchasing 3,630 pounds of food – the equivalent of about 2,800 meals.

House of Hope wants to thank Scott Sade, George Cohen, Sarah Tupper, Joe Jones, Carolyn Kohn, Steven Swann, Jackie Eckstein. Thanks also go another friend at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney -- John Haas, who along with his wife, Donna, are great supporters of House of Hope and its food pantry program.

House of Hope is a nonprofit agency that provides food, clothing, case management and financial assistance to Martin County people in need. The agency is Martin County’s largest provider of food to the hungry, and serves as a safety net for thousands of families, working people and senior citizens who are struggling through hard times.
