Library announces Food
for Fines Fridays in April
Have
you stayed away from the library because you have fines? The
Martin County Library System will forgive you! Just come to
any Martin County library on any Friday in April 2011 and do
a good deed for House of Hope at the same time!
With “Food for Fines Fridays,” if you bring in a
non-perishable food item during library hours on any Friday
in April, all of your fines for items that have been
returned late will be forgiven.
Donations of food will allow for cancellation of older
OVERDUE fines as well as for any item you might bring in
along with your food donation. Bills for LOST (never
returned) items will not be included in this offer.
The food will be given to House of Hope, the primary
provider of food to the hungry in Martin County. Last year,
House of Hope provided the equivalent of about 237,000
meals—about one-third feeding hungry children.
WHEN: Friday, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
WHERE: All Martin County libraries:
-
Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey
Rd., Stuart (10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.)

The project also provides volunteer
opportunities for House of Hope.
House of Hope volunteers be available on Fridays to talk to
patrons about House of Hope, to collect food and also to
help transport it to House of Hope. This would be a good
opportunity for a group of friends to adopt a library branch
for the month to spread the word about House of Hope and to
collect food that is donated.
If you would like more information or you are interested in
volunteering for this project, please contact Diane Tomasik
at the Stuart office of House of Hope, 286-4673,
diane@hohmartin.org.
