House of Hope is a community service agency, founded in 1984, that
offers help and hope to people who are struggling through hard times.
HOH provides food, clothing, case management and
emergency financial assistance to people who work hard but find
themselves unable to make ends meet. Our clients are typically low-wage
service industry workers, fixed-income senior citizens, single parents,
the recently unemployed and people suffering through personal life crises.

"Stephanie" and her
husband have three children. Their 6-year-old recently
had to have surgery for hydroencephaly -- a buildup of
fluid on the brain. Stephanie has not been working, and
her husband has been unemployed for more than a year. He
has been able to pick up odd jobs, but he lost income
when they accompanied their son to Orlando for his
surgery.
That's why they came
to House of Hope -- for help paying $165 to avoid having
their electricity shut off. The couple thinks they'll be
fine financially in coming months, as Stephanie plans to
go back to work as a waitress in the evenings, while her
husband works during the day.
